DD1 (7) - Random acts of petty vandalism since I returned to work - What to do?

DD1 is capable of extreme high jinks, but never usually anything destructive.

I returned to work recently, and although I'm going to be part-time soon I had to start full-time to factor in training.

So far, she's : cut up a tenner, written her name in lip gloss on a white bedcover, covered her hair in ash from the fireplace (bit biblical, that one - has she been doing behind-the-scenes reading?) and other bits of general ill behaviour too numerous to mention.

We've tried to give her a bit of leeway as everythings gone upside down for her in the last few weeks routine-wise, but I'm just not used to this - her sister is the usual culprit, DD1 is a typical PFB overacheiver behaviourally.

I feel, as ever, guilty about this, but has anyone had this kind of thing happen and what did you do?

(bar rant, ban tv, make her clean it up, etc, etc, etc)

dd2 did this when ds1 was born when she was 6.5 (she cut loads of stuff with her paper-cutting scissors, I didn't realise they were that sharp ). We just took the scissors away and had a chat about feelings etc. She was still allowed to do cutting but supervised at the dining table, and we made sure that she was still getting plenty of positive attention. The behaviour stopped of its own accord.
