Any recruiters? How to present lots of roles/experience on CV?

I am updating my CV and need to find the best way to present my experience over the last 13 years where I've been working as a freelancer/consultant. During this time I've worked for multiple organisations in my sector on a wide range of projects, almost all of which could be relevant to a role I'm considering applying for. But obviously it's going to look a bit crazy to try and list them all with a description. Prior to becoming a freelance, I had 10+ years experience across 4 substantive posts (3 in the same organisation - I was promoted a couple of times), most of which is also relevant! Help please!

I'm not a recruiter but in your place I'd list the whole thing as a single job, but very detailed. So for instance :

  • 2012-2022 : freelancer for various organisations including X, Y and Z (list the best known/most prestigious). The work consisted mostly in X Y Z. I successfully led Y project that involved doing XYZ.
  • 2010-2012 : work for Y organisation. The job entailed XY
  • And so forth

Also might leave out the oldest expériences or just give them one line each

I would focus on your key skills and experiences, giving them more focus. I’d then simply list your roles/companies/dates

Thank you - that makes sense, I'll give that a go. Doesn't help that I've hardly needed a CV for ages as most of my work is through recommendations or working as an associate through a 3rd party.

You only need to include the last 10 years experience.

If you have been freelance/consultant during that time I'd do bullet points of key achievements by role if relevant
