Notice when leaving

I work in administration for a large corporation. My contract states that I have to give 3 months notice if leaving.

I'm trying to find another job but am having difficulty finding an employer who is willing to wait 3 months for me to start.

Can anyone please advise what would happen if I gave only one months notice? I realise I would be in breach of contract.

Probably nothing would happen, technically they could sue you for any additional costs they incur in finding cover but the chance of any company doing that is remote. I think the main concern would be about leaving on bad terms, burning bridges is never a good idea.

Do you have any annual leave left? If you do then you would be able to leave before your official end date and start the new job earlier. Would that help?

Thank you for the replies. I never take more than 2 weeks holiday out of my 5 week entitlement as the cover they give me is so awful

People always say on here that the Company probably won’t pursue and they may be right but I do know of a case where they did.
