Oh god, job searching is hideous isn’t it?

It’s probably a bad time of year but I am finding it so difficult. I have spent hours doing application forms, tweaking my CV, searching online. I have joined a temp agency but lost out on some decent temp hours because my previous employer just ignored my reference request.

It’s soul destroying isn’t it?

I have a data task today which if successful will lead to an interview, but that’s my only positive response out of 20 applications. I have one other open application. There’s 2 or 3 things I’d like to apply for today that have come through.

Anyone else?

So I did my data task and I thought it went well, however I was emailed today to say I was unsuccessful, which is a shame as I genuinely hoped I would get an interview for that one, and felt really positive after the task.

I have a few bits of temping lined up in January as long as I can get a DBS check done, it’s totally the wrong time of year as schools are all closed so no one there to process my dbs request. That may or may not happen in January then…

I have applied for a couple of other things yesterday with MoJ and something came through on my job alert that I liked the sound of as well. I think in January I am going to go into an agency as well and see if they can direct me to some opportunities. I’m obviously not going to apply for much over the next week or so given the Christmas break.
