Covering maternity contract - query on pensions/duration

I may be taking on a maternity contract position which is due to be for a year. However I have two main questions - will I be paid a pension by the company during this time and if the individual decides to come back earlier will my role just be ended?

Not sure about the pension, but if the person comes back earlier they will need to give you appropriate notice as detailed in the contract, but yes, it could end early

All depends on the contract, should be in the offer letter but I think they are not allowed to offer a short term contract on worse terms than a longer term one, so should include pension

Notice should be set out in the offer letter too

Thanks for the responses. I'll make sure to check the contract when it comes through.
