Depends on the job

A few jobs in the finance industry include credit checks.

greenacrylicpaint · 08/12/2022 12:03

depends
some public sectorroles require one as well as financial institutions.

SoonToBeSwedeyMummy · 08/12/2022 12:04

Some but unless the job is in finance or public service (bribery risk) they won't care for your bank balance or credit history. They will just need to satisfy screening which has to go back 5 years.

GetOffTheRoof · 08/12/2022 12:07

Depends on the role and the employer. I've had it done for high risk roles requiring higher levels of security clearance. It's about the potentially for you being targeted for bribery, your vulnerability to corruption and your integrity.

Nottodaty · 08/12/2022 12:08

Depends on the role

Reugny · 08/12/2022 12:10

Depends on the role.

I've been credit checked for every role I've done for the last 7 years. Not a big deal unless you have lots of debt you aren't managing.

Teaching roles?

Civil Service?

Working in security?

why are you asking?
what kind of role are you applying for?

stargirl1701 · 08/12/2022 12:25

Not teaching. It's just a criminal records check but it covers your lifespan.

ThreeFeetTall · 08/12/2022 12:29

Having watched Line Of Duty...do they do this for the police?

Only very basic financial checks. Unless you're applying to the Met in which case they went through a (lengthy) phase of only doing vetting for about 10% of roles.... And then they wonder why its a clusterfuck of epic proportions up there.

I went through enhanced vetting including new security clearance and financial investigations for specialist police roles after being successful at a board.

NHS?

Why are you asking? It will depend on the role

ThreeFeetTall · 08/12/2022 13:36

Thanks @GetOffTheRoof
I live in London and not surprised the Met do things their own way 😬
