Firstly - Congratulations on the job!!!

Secondly - get a temporary nanny or childminder.

funnypeculiar · 31/01/2008 13:11

Could your dh take time off to look after dd2 for some of the time? Then family for other bits.

Nanny defn, defn easiest soln though.

TheFallenMadonna · 31/01/2008 13:11

Well, go for the paid option then. Do look into it though. Because it is the job by the sounds of it....

bossykate · 31/01/2008 13:12

ok you have plenty of time to sort something out.

nailpolish · 31/01/2008 13:12

yes i would do it for someone else to funnypeculiar

Might be worth asking the school for childminders who currently pick up from DD's school? Or even DD's teacher if she knows anyone who could help you out.
Good luck

KatyMac · 31/01/2008 13:15

If you are unemployed or on Income support the Job centre should have someone who can help you find childcare (I was on a seminar about it yesterday) plus you might get help with the cost of childcare

If you're not on IS - sorry I wasted a post

funnypeculiar · 31/01/2008 13:17

exactly naily - ime we feel we can't ask people to do things that, actually, we'd be really fine doing ourselves.
DD2, I agree, is trickier

Rhumba · 31/01/2008 13:21

Hi Np, Well done with the job and hope you can get something sorted.

Noticed on another meep up thread that Mawbroon said she was starting up her childminding business again and doing short term emergency work at present...

Don't know any agencies but try yell.com for nappy etc there must be leads in Edinburgh

Good luck

nailpolish · 31/01/2008 13:21

is gumtree just for london?

i cant think straight im pretty upset

aGalChangedHerName · 31/01/2008 13:21

If you lived by me i would do it for you NP

What about asking one of the mums in the playgroung if they want to earn a few bob for a few weeks?

Obv it would need to be someone you like/know a bit. Wouldn't normally suggest a non CM but i know people who do favours for each other.

nailpolish · 31/01/2008 13:22

rhumba mawbroon is the other side of town. i did think of her though. do you think i should ask her?

i wouldnt want her to be pressured into it iyswim

OP posts:
nailpolish · 31/01/2008 13:23

oh GOD agalch you have made me cry
i would love to have you as my cm

OP posts:
nailpolish · 31/01/2008 13:25

the school have an after school club but i think they are full. ill ask tho.

OP posts:
Rhumba · 31/01/2008 13:27

why not try if she's not working might be glad of anything and 8 weeks is a good contract.

I suppose school doesn't do wrap around do they?
I guess you've tried here.

www.scottishchildcare.gov.uk/

Just put nanny and edinburgh into yell.com and loads came up

aGalChangedHerName · 31/01/2008 13:28

Ask the after school club and Mawbroon too!!!!

If MB can't do it then i am sure she would say.

If this is your dream job childcre must be doable fgs. It is only 8 weeks!!

Oliveoil · 31/01/2008 13:31

are you in Edinburrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh naily?

surely you can find childcare there?

break the 8 weeks down in to chunks

dh does a bit
one school mum does 3 days, one does 2 days

etc etc

it will be a pita for 8 weeks and you will cry but at the end of it you will have a dream job

you will regret it if not

and I will clobber ye with a wet fish also

nailpolish · 31/01/2008 13:33

none of the cms on the council list pick up from dds school - thats the thing. its fucking annoying

OP posts:
Iota · 31/01/2008 13:33

Write the details down on paper and ask if any knows anyone who can help you out. Put your phone no on it

Then hand out copies to all the mums you meet - that way you are not asking them directly to help you out.

plus do all the other stuff suggested by others

good luck

Oliveoil · 31/01/2008 13:35

Good idea iota

do you have a school notice board? bet there is mum who would jump at the chance to have some extra money

nailpolish · 31/01/2008 13:36

how much should i pay ?

OP posts:
Rhumba · 31/01/2008 14:07

edinburgh.gumtree.com/edinburgh/72/15252672.html

Ok must get back to work now

What's the job doing by the way?

nailpolish · 31/01/2008 14:11

thanks rhumba
i couldnt work the site, my head is mush today. cant think straight.

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 31/01/2008 14:15

nannies are about 7 pound an hour or you could do a nanny share which would half the price.

nailpolish · 31/01/2008 14:15

nappyaddict this is complicated enough without nanny sharing!
