Applying for new job on maternity leave

I’m not due back to work until mid June (1year of maternity), however my job is very demanding, long hours and there’s risks that I may not be able to leave on time. The current hours mean that I would miss LO’s bedtime and I wouldn’t see her much in the morning either. I would be looking at working part time but it would still mean missing out on LO 2/3 days a week.
A job, still in my field but more what I want to do has come up, remote with flexible working has come up. The application closing date is the 31st December.
is it still worth applying? Interviews aren’t likely to start until mid to end of January and due to cost of living ect it’s likely I would need to return to work when SMP finishes. In addition the average notice period for my current role is around 3 months.
My current employer gives enhanced maternity pay, but in the policy I cannot see any requirements to pay this back.

If I do apply, when do I need to mention being on maternity leave?

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't apply for it. Sounds ideal! And I don't see why you need to mention your mat leave until you're offered the role and then only if your preferred start date is considerably more than 3 months beyond that point.
