Work Dilemma! Help!!

We have just moved back to London and I have been looking for work for a couple of weeks. I have two offers of work and am completely confused as to what to do. My daughter Bella is 17 months old and has been in nursery three days a week while I worked part time. We have a choice of two nurseries near our house, both with places.

One job is full-time but is less than 5 minutes walk from my front door and has good holiday and flexi time. The other is about a 45 minute commute away in Central London, but is three days a week. The salary is the same, although obviously less pro rata for the part time.

What would you do????

I'd definitly go for the 5 minute away one! if you will enjoy the role , the benefits of being so close are great - no commuting adding extra time to drop off each day , with flexitime and hols as well you may be able to take time off if you need it, ir work up enought hours to take one day a fortnight.

Mmmmmm tough one!! Are you planning on having more children in the near future as that could be something to take into consideration!

I would probably take the part time one so you can still spend time with your daughter!

Maybe do a pro's and con's sheet and see which measures up the best.

Good luck

Thanks for the messages. It is not like me to be so indecisive, but I am just finding it so hard to decide, and with new jobs they are always such an unknown quantity - kind of feel that the part time place would be nicer to work at, but the full time has obvious benefits just be location. I would possibly like to have another baby next year or the year after...which complicates it even more, because the full time is maternity cover and the part time is permanent. AAArrrggghhh. I am driving myself absolutely crazy trying to make the right decision....

I think you could make either work - which one do you want? Forget about the baby, which will you prefer? (Then think about the baby again, obviously )

Thanks everyone! I think fundamentally I just need to decide whether I want to work full or part time, regardless of commute.
