I need to state why i am applying for the post and what i feel i could offer to the post.

I have 11 years elderley care/nursing care experience.

4 years 8 months working with adults with Learning disabilities.

I am applying because i have never worked with children and i feel that would enjoy it and i could learn something different.

The hours appealed to me.

HELP

I cannot make it sound good.

What's the job?

pinkteddy · 29/01/2008 21:56

person spec - pelvic? What does it say?
have you kept the notes from the other thread?!!!

Dottydot · 29/01/2008 21:58

You're applying because you have a great deal of experience as a nurse/carer in a range of settings, with the elderly and adults with learning disabilities.

You feel confident you can translate this experience to working with children and you are ready to take on this challenge which you feel will add to your professional development.

Give a couple of examples of where you've had to be patient/calm in a crisis etc. and say that you feel working in the environments you have gives you the skills and experience to take on the role you have applied for.

Don't mention the hours - they could take it the wrong way and worry you couldn't do any other hours if needed.

Does the child have any specific disabilities/difficulties? If so, relate your work with adults with LD to the child.

Talk about your skills and experience in the following areas:

one to one care and attention (if it's just one child you'll be caring for)

Health and safety

patience/calm/understanding

responsibility - working on your own with an adult/child

Beauregard · 29/01/2008 22:20

I can't do it

OP posts:
Dottydot · 29/01/2008 22:23

YES YOU CAN!!!!!!! You definitely, definitely can.

How much do you want this job?? If you really want it you'll do it and get the effing form in.

Write a short paragraph/couple of sentences on each of the essential person specifications and then use a couple of the sentences or something like them that I wrote earlier.

Give it a go - if you don't get shortlisted at least you tried. If you don't put a form in you definitely won't get it...

I have calmed down slightly now.I am not very 'mentally'well at the moment(chronic depression/anxiety)so i am struggling to find the head space for all this job hunting and the subsequent forms

I have filled it in as best as i can, basic info ect ,it will have to do.
The person spec was pretty basic so i have matched my skills as best i can.
