I've been offered HCA position at my local hospital. I had done all the recruitment and everything is done regarding that. I start training on the 19th December I'm just wondering when would I be expected to start? I finish training the day before Christmas eve so just wondering?

No one here would know...could be Christmas eve ...Christmas day??? Boxing day??

If you know what ward you'll be working on then you'll need to get in touch with them and ask. I would think most places will have their Christmas off duty done by now so they should be able to check for you and let you know. Be wary of them trying to take the piss with shifts as you're a new start during the festive period.

Your first day of work is your first day of training. You need to contact your line manager and ask for your rota. Expect to be working Xmas day if you are ward based.

Just going to say, bad timing! Expect to cover all the shit shifts that nobody wants over Xmas and new year.
Make sure you’ve “ already got booked plans” !

Contact your line manager, but I would say rotas will already have been done for Christmas. Plus you are normally supernumerary for the first 4 or 6 weeks which normally means you don't get enhancements/double time for Sundays bank hols etc

Ohh I didn't know anything about supernumerary, does that count for HCA workers in the nhs?

I haven't, I know the ward I will be working on but other than that no. I just know I start my care camp on the 19th December 😊
