@Gally123 @joewe41 I really don't know how they get away with it now. I know it's our choice to work for them, but really........

nomadchild · 29/11/2022 13:45

I haven't done any dict8 for 2 months now just find Tpro much better. Just wondering if anyone has started a Tpro thread ? I do miss the slagging off posts of Dict8, as a home worker brightened my day.

Chrissols · 29/11/2022 13:50

@nomadchild I think a lot of Tpro workers and also Dict8 workers so use this thread. I'm like you, cannot remember the last I did any for Dict8, partly because there is hardly any work there these days so cannot be relied on, partly due to the atrocious pay, and partly due to never a shortage of work elsewhere. Still find it a bit sad though, as I did really enjoy Dict8 work - it's just not financially viable now though....

nomadchild · 29/11/2022 14:09

@Chrissols i just haven’t looked back since jumping ship. It’s also how yr treated with respect regarding feedback and nothing is too much trouble for them. I also enjoy the variety of specialties ones I begged Dict8 to let me do but they refused. Still look at Dict8 but as you say work is sparse. The good days are long gone.

joewe41 · 29/11/2022 18:26

@nomadchild same here, Tpro so much nicer to work for and I'm not tied to one specialty.

nomadchild · 29/11/2022 19:21

@joewe41 i can get bored after 2 hours of the same specialty but now I just jump to something else. Today I’ve done Ophthalmology, pain clinic, ent, gynaecology, plastic surgery, child and young adult psychiatry and critical care!! I’m also not as tired and my self esteem has improved as I’m not being told off for every error I make. Best move ever.

EmilyJ23 · 29/11/2022 21:40

I recently emailed tpro looking for more information about working for them but they said they aren’t looking for anyone at the moment and to try in the new year. I would love to try to be able to type for them and it sounds like they are a lot better to type for than dict 8 x

joewe41 · 30/11/2022 13:40

@EmilyJ23 They are definitely better to work for. Like @nomadchild said they give constructive feedback and are nice with it. No talking to you like it's demeaning for them to be associated with you. So much better. Just keep checking with them.

That’s great to know. Thanks! I don’t know too much about tpro as I can’t find much on their site. Not meaning to change the subject from Dict8 on here but you don’t happen to know tpro rate of pay and can you just log on when you can to type like dict 8 or do you have to let them know in advance?

joewe41 · 30/11/2022 14:08

@EmilyJ23 its 0.0011 per character in euros. With me they want 500,000 characters a month but I can go on any time to do the typing. Paid by bank transfer around 7th of month.

Thanks for that with that 😀 I will def email them again after Christmas to see if they are recruiting Hopefully they are

TypoQueen1 · 30/11/2022 16:38

Sorry to be jumping on the bandwagon about TPro. Can you do more than the character total they ask for per month or do you have to stick with what they ask for?

Gally123 · 30/11/2022 16:45

@TypoQueen1 - Tpro want you to type as much as possible - they give a 10% bonus once you reach 1,000,000 characters a month. So if you earn £1,000 a month that is an extra £100 and so on.

Gally123 · 30/11/2022 18:07

@joewe41 -have they changed the rate of pay again with Tpro?

TypoQueen1 · 30/11/2022 18:25

Sorry another question - approximately how many hours does it take to complete 500,000 characters?

joewe41 · 30/11/2022 23:15

@TypoQueen1 It's taken me according to their system 463 minutes but that's just their dictation minutes. If you take into account looking up words or getting stuck could be in region of 30 hours or slightly more. I'm struggling though as out on placement and trying to fit study around it as well so I'm not maybe the best person to ask.
@Gally123 That's the rate they gave me, are you on a different one?

Gally123 · 01/12/2022 07:35

@joewe41 yes.

carosel2 · 01/12/2022 08:26

@joewe41 - me too a different rate with T-pro. Im on 0.00077 way less than you but depending on when you started I think they lowered it during Covid. So think anyone applying now will be on the low rate but not sure. When did you start if you dont mind me asking and do you do VR?. I started March 2021

Frazzledbynature · 01/12/2022 09:28

Morning everyone.

I'm glad the characters were addressed above in the way of time taken. I cannot afford 30 hours a week as I've got that much to do with my son for my carers allowance. I'm on my final week now of waiting for it to be granted, I've been continuing to type for dict8 and got through enough for this month's paycheque.

The pressure will be off me when the carers comes through but I found that even then I could continue to earn the same amount with no financial/tax penalties which would be good. I have planned to sit for two hours a day when young sir is unavailable (aka snoring) and what gets done gets done.

The feedback has been back to "in my office now" full speed ahead this week after a long break. One is a header I've missed off every letter I've typed for this doctor to be told it needs to go in. I bet they owe me a pound or two for missing words, where were they back in the year when this wasn't being done?!!

TypoQueen1 · 01/12/2022 09:38

@joewe41 can I just clarify, is the 30 hours you mention 30 hours per week or the total time taken to complete 500,000 characters?

nomadchild · 01/12/2022 10:16

933 minutes to complete around 833,000 characters plus I was ill for part of this month with flu so that slowed me down.

joewe41 · 01/12/2022 10:56

@TypoQueen1 No 30 hours for month. Its hard to be sure but somewhere around it. I started in October.

Gally123 · 01/12/2022 11:30

@carosel2 - when I put my invoice in later today I am going to ask for a pay rise.

carosel2 · 01/12/2022 12:41

@Gally123 - I have just asked my team lead about this as she keeps pestering me to do more but I am reluctant now to do anything at all.

1,000,000 @ 0.00077 = 770 euro with 10% extra of 77 euro = 847 euros at sterling rate at moment .86 p = £728.42

1,000,000 @ 0.0011 = 1,100 euro with 10% extra of 110 euro = 121,000 euros at
sterling rate at moment .86 = £1040.6

People on the higher rate gets £312.18 for doing the same amount which is more than I earned with DICT8 in the month!

That has been worked the 10% being euro to start with before getting converted in to sterling by the way

Gally123 · 01/12/2022 12:49

@carosel2 - yes I have asked accounts when I put in my invoice if I have missed the information of a pay rise as new people seem to be on a higher rate. Next time my team lead asks me to do anything I shall ask to her approach people who are paid more first before coming to me and see her reply. Not impressed. I too worked out it is about £300 more or so a month. It does put you off working for them to know they have so many different pay rates and treat people differently etc.
