I will never comment again lol

Whitestar55 · 22/02/2023 11:50

@Chrissols Please do, it's good to have inside information lol

DICT8 is a computerised system and I bet they have it setup in a way that financially benefits them in everyway possible by pulling stats off the system to feed work to those who do the fastest most accurate work in each specialty/ curtail tasks to those slower and less profitable. Why would they continually allow someone who is slow and makes mistakes type for a hospital/private client who had made a complaint about their work, it wouldn't make business sense to me

Chrissols · 22/02/2023 14:38

@Pinksville I tend to agree with you, but daren't say too much as get shot down in flames......

Whitestar55 · 22/02/2023 17:02

Why do you think you are being shot down?

This is the video, if anyone is interested. Maybe it's outdated and they no longer have the option to star rate, but it's still on the website.

Chrissols · 22/02/2023 18:20

@Whitestar55 because I made a simple comment on how we receive work to upload and it turned into a full on debate! I’m sorry you don’t believe what I say, but it’s the flippin truth like it or not!

Pinksville · 22/02/2023 18:45

The mere mention of a blackberry mobile makes me think this is outdated 😂A friend of mine has been on DICT8 for years and said they used to get emails from DICT8 to let you know if the client thought the work was great/outstanding etc. but apparently that has stopped now.

Lovemydaxie · 22/02/2023 20:31

@Pinksville I've worked for dict8 since 2006 and I do indeed remember emails saying a piece of work had been complimented by the client but that was many years ago when we also got monthly newsletters and regular communications from them. Quite different to now!

Whitestar55 · 22/02/2023 20:33

@Chrissols where did I say that I don't believe what you say and why are you so upset by the fact that I merely stated that it shows a star rating function on the video?, which is also the truth, but doesn't mean I don't believe you that it isn't there now. If I want to mention the video I will whether you like it or not.

They do have a scoring system for dictators to rate transcribers, according to the website and what others on here who use Dict8 at the clients' end say, so what @Gally123 says makes sense.

I have a feeling that I've written that statement in a way that could be misunderstood. I was trying to say that others on here that work on the clients receiving end have confirmed that there is a scoring system, not that THEIR comments on the task are used to rate the transcriber. Perhaps why @Chrissols is upset. I'm shit at communication.

OP posts:
Chrissols · 22/02/2023 22:40

@Whitestar55 I can only reiterate, I do work at the clients end also, and for our Trust there is no scoring system. As said, I am not going to argue with you, if you know otherwise then that’s absolutely fine, obviously very angry 😔

Cherryblossom114 · 22/02/2023 23:14

Ive been with Dict8 little over a year now and I do recall reading something that says the dictators have an option box where they can score the transcriber on their work performance. I cant see the secretaries being given that option under their login. I can say I have been on both sides of the fence and never had that option.

Peace and Love all you beautiful people...❤

Pinksville · 23/02/2023 10:31

@Whitestar55 that's the trouble with communicating via sites like this and text message, misunderstandings happen, I'm sure if you were face to face it would be a different conversation plus working for DICT8 can scramble the brain 😂today I sat there thinking the dictator had paused only to realise I hadn't got my foot on the pedal (don't ask 😂it's been one of those weeks !!! )

danblack87 · 23/02/2023 13:55

@Chrissols @Gally123 @ ALL. When I worked in the Trust I worked for moons ago - like Chrissols there was no option to rate a transcribers dictation and Nor was there the facility for the dictators to rate transcription. We uploaded in-coming from Dict8 to dowload on the system .. few were a bit below standard; BUT, then again, we knew the Dr's dialects, intracacies and often difficult interpretion ... it was a given. The majority were excellent. I have no idea if such a thing exists as monitoring and reducing access but I tend to agree with Chrissols here. Maybe some Trusts want the facility if available and that occurs, who knows? ... certainly not me and Certainly NOT with the trust for whom I worked. All input on this forum are welcome. Nobody should get dishearted by any comments. All comments are valuable @Chrissols

Chrissols · 23/02/2023 13:58

@danblack87 thank you so much for that, very much appreciated 😊

Gally123 · 23/02/2023 14:00

@danblack87 but as you know, when you had the doctor who complained about your comment in the notes box that the secretary should listen to the message instead of writing out his instructions in full, there is feedback from the dictators to DICT8 if there are issues.

danblack87 · 23/02/2023 14:46

@Gally123 Yes, I know that too BUT you know S* happens. I don't do that any more for sure!!! Didn't reduce my access to further dictation though - A point was made and I have adhered since

carosel2 · 24/02/2023 00:20

@Whitestar55 - you are correct in stating doctors can give feed back on work. I can see this even now on their site. I wonder if the secretary has accsess to this facility. Perhaps this facility is only available to the doctor because afterall why should the secretary get access to be able to comment above any doctor on their work. Not that we are any lower than them as we do a dam good job. @Whitestar55 you are correct in stating clients are able to give feed back on their website. Why the debate has got to this Il never know. Its a statement that is true and proven on their site so why has this come to such a negative debate for some? I thought that this forum was exactly for that. Voicing opinions??. No need to fall out just because one doesnt agree with what the other says. Why not agree to disagree. Ive been on the receiving end of similar debates when others have taken offence instead of listening and understanding what was said (These forums are for debates)! To voice our opinions. We should be able to do that. No one here has been personally targeted have they??@Whitestar55 please dont stop voicing your opinion and dont apologise for.having an opinion.even if it doesnt agree with others. Its your freedom of speech as.long as it doesnt offend and reading your posts there is.nothing offensive to anyone I can read that you have put. Others, yes!

carosel2 · 24/02/2023 08:18

A few weeks ago I sent a few files back out of frustration to the doctor because I couldnt hear anything only a faint voice as sounded coming from the mountains! I did this as they were blocking my list and were particularly long letters. I was very polite and said sorry etc etc. I got an email back from Director of Dict8 telling me the Dr had complained bitterly, that the files were fine and perhaps I should change my headphones, put the sound up or change and update my computer! There is nothing wrong with my equipment as its all up to date. I tried to explain I could hear other files okay so why not that Dr's.? My reply never came and my work was inundated with the same Dr's 'quiet' files, so I just stopped typing

Pinksville · 24/02/2023 09:58

It would be interesting to see if DICT8 have a duty of care to make sure volume of tasks is at a safe level throughout the task. What if you had turned that up full volume and then the dictator suddenly came through at high volume ? We do choose to do this job but we don't choose to have our hearing damaged in the process. If it were me I would archive that email.

As for doctors ever admitting they are in the wrong - never met one yet !!!!

carosel2 · 24/02/2023 10:15

@Pinksville 😄 like Dict8 and Drs alike. They are unbelievable theres no point in trying to say anything to improve things with them they wont acknowledge any wrong doings will they

nomadchild · 24/02/2023 10:33

@Pinksville @carosel2 that is awful. So once again its all your fault. That is one thing I like about Tpro they give me feedback and I can converse with them in an adult manner. The other day I did a very long letter about 4 pages worth and I could not get the addressee as the dr was mumbling it. I googled, looked up the hospital as I could hear that and nothing. They came back to me saying they had found it as they could make out the first name which I could not. I replied saying I had really tried but didn't have a first name like them. They then replied to say they did not want me spending lots of time looking up incoherent names and they were only telling me the name in case it cropped up again. How nice is that, so different from Dict8, even my husband commented on the difference as he used to have to put up with my rants about the feedback. Also they sent me a screenshot of the letter so I could reference it, again my big bug bear with Dict8, the feedback is pointless when you have no reference point. I once did not listen to the beep in a letter for them and they hauled me over the coals for it as there was a CC at the end that I missed. When I asked the head honcho who we all know her name for the letter info eg, speciality, dr dictating and date and time I returned it and to send it back to me so I could see what I had done they were unable to provide that. Feedback is meant to be constructive and helpful something they have no idea about.

Gally123 · 24/02/2023 11:09

@nomadchild - I had a similar experience with she who must not be named - I was sent feedback that I had missed off the hospital number on the letter, but had included it in the extra box to the side. As this is a strange occurrence as I type the letter first and then fill in the box afterwards I replied asking if it was a task I had which was actually blank/no dictation with the notation on the right hand side saying the dictator had prefilled in the hospital number. Her reply was a very long time in coming and was similar to your in that she said she did not have that information. Surely, if there is a problem that was flagged up and feedback sent to me they must know to which letter it referred to.

On a separate note, TPro are now asking their typists to put their tax number details on their invoices - I wonder if this is to cut down on people not registering with HMRC as self-employed and therefore not paying tax on all their earnings, and whether DICT8 will soon follow suit and ask us for our details?

carosel2 · 24/02/2023 12:02

@Gally123 - I may be being a bit dim here. Is it the UTR number, when did they ask you for that? I've not been asked for this yet
