So angry

So, I applied for a job and got an interview.

The add said a particular salary but when I opened and read the JD it said a lower salary. I emailed the company to confirm what the salary was. Got a reply to say it was the higher salary as they did not get any candidates with the lower salary.

I thought great, confirmed my interview and booked the time off work.

Day before the interview, I get an email to say that the higher salary was advertised is error and the role is now the lower salary!

I am disgusted that they have wasted my time like this!

Say you'll only accept the higher salary. If they want you badly enough, they'll agree.

God how annoying! Well, see it as a lucky escape, if they can’t even get basic facts like this straight they’d be a nightmare to work for.

Oh well... you can just move on

tickticksnooze · 05/11/2022 22:15

Annoying, sure. Disgusting, not so much.

Thirder · 05/11/2022 22:15

They probably didn't get approval for the higher salary. At least it wasn't after the interview.
I would say to them you would be happy to continue with interview if its the higher rate.

I think it is disgusting to be honest.

I wasted my time and energy completing the application and preparing for an interview only for the company to move the goal posts.

I agree, I do see it as a lucky escape.

Incompetent and misleading organisation.
