How to show 'job hopping' on application

I was employed at Company A for about 7 years and then made redundant due to the pandemic.
I then took a temp contract (Company B) and then found another FT role (Company C).

Company A then asked me to come back and so I went back about a year ago. Very similar role to what I had before - same job title etc.
This means my stint at Company C was really short, which is not ideal, especially as it comes after a short term contract.

What's the best way to represent this on my CV/ job applications?

Option 1
Company A: 2012 to 2020 and 2021-present
Company C: 2021
Company B: 2020-2021

Or

Option 2
Company A: 2012 to 2020
Company B: 2021
Company B: 2020-2021
Company A: 2012 to 2020

Option 1 is more succinct and makes more sense when it comes to describing role and responsibilities, but does it look like I'm trying to hide the fact I left and returned (I do explain this in the CV)? And is it a bit confusing?

And when filling in applications which just ask you to list employment history will Option 1 still work?

On your CV Option 1, Job applications, particularly online will need Option 2.

How short is short and did you gain anything useful from C? If you don't think it'll help you get the job just don't put it down.
