Second job/P45s

Apologies if this isn't the correct place the ask this. I work two jobs, and I am soon to move to one. I changed my main job a few months ago, and I gave my P45 to my new employer. I am now leaving my second job, so will be given another P45. Does anyone know what I will need to do with this? Will I need to give it to my current employer? They have already had the P45 when I left my other (main) job a few months OK.

What tax code are you on for the main ongoing job? If it's a br code I would let hmrc know so they can issue the right code to your ongoing employer. If your recent p45 just has a br code I wouldn't stress too much as your code and taxes are all sorted.

Thanks for your reply. I will need to double check, but i don't think I have a BR tax code for either job. My tax code reflects that we have marriage tax allowance. We're not eligible for this anymore, but as I told them after the April cut off date they can't cancel it until next year. I am paying extra tax at the moment to compensate for this.

That should all be taken care of in one code in your main job. The other should have a BR code. Phone hmrc (about a 30 min wait for me the other day) and speak to them if not.

You can ask HMRC to split your tax code if you don't earn over the personal allowance in one of the jobs
