Help me find a job!

I've been a freelance features writer for 20 years. I'm now lonely, and work is drying up, and kids are grown, so I'd love to find a full-time job.

I'm 51 😱 - is it too late?!

I honestly don't know where to start.

Ideally, I'd be writing for a magazine. But I've been out of the office for so long, I don't know the software they use, and even I think I'm a bit old for that.

Should I use a recruitment agency? Do they help you tailor your CV? Would they see my potential?

I'm also really good at freelance work but think I'm rubbish at job interviews as I haven't ever got a ".proper" job through an interview process.

I've written books, features, and I've fine social media for some local companies. My degree (in the 90s!) was in advertising, but I went straight into magazines. I haven't done any marketing training although I have worked with marketing agencies.

I do have some hood contacts but I'm also really scared of contacting them, as I've lost my confidence. I'm not good at self-promotion, which is probably why my freelance work has dried up,

Seen 2 jobs recently that would possibly suit you. One was a writer for The Knowledge (advertised on their daily email newsletter), the other for Canopy & Stars (advertised on FB) writing copy for brochures/social media.

Are you on LinkedIn? Might be worth signing up and following potential employers to see if there's any jobs posted?

Thank you!

I do have a LinkedIn profile but it must be crap, because I don't think I've ever had a job through it. Maybe I should spend today rewriting it, to make it sound more like the work I'd love to do.

Canopy & Stars sound like such a lovely company. I found a job, but it's creating video content for their social media. I'm also miles from Bristol.
