I'm a single mother aged 30 and contemplating what I can do when DS begins school in August. I don't really want just a 'job', I'd rather have some kind of career rather than just work to pay the bills. I've thought since my teens about joining the police as some of my family are/were coppers and love/d it. However it seems a difficult thing to fit in with single motherhood; the training and subsequent shiftwork, I mean. I have no family close by and my ex only has DS one day a week max thus my only option would be for paid childcare. Are there any mums (or dads) on here who are in the police in this situation?
