Anyone regret decling a job offer?

I think I have accepted the wrong job offer and I can't stop thinking about it and have been in bed all day feeling like crap since emailing this morning. I was swaying between both jobs but I decided to go for the initial job which I accepted first. Both were completely different settings in the same industry. I think it has now been re-advertised on Indeed even though they did interview others. I just can't seem to get over it 😢 I think I am going through the menopause too which isn't helping my decision making me look and sound more bat shit crazy 😭

If you really feel that you made a mistake, contact the company you want to work for. Tell them you've reconsidered and would like to accept. Worse case scenario, they say no and you're no worse off than you are now.

You can always change your mind and decline the one you accepted. If you only made the decision this morning nothing is set in stone.

Would they not think I'm a bit crazy 🙈

I was in exactly the same situation as you a few months back. I felt compelled to take the first job that I had previously accepted even though I knew it wasn't really what I wanted. After a few days in the job it solidified that it was the wrong decision and I contacted the other employers and said I'd made a mistake. They actually admired my honesty and re-offered me the position. You have nothing to lose so if you are certain you have made a mistake, just give them an email.

Who cares? If they do think you're crazy, they'll say no and not be part of your life anyways

If they don't, they'll say yes and you'll get your second chance

Meltinthemiddle · 10/10/2022 21:44

The only time really was when an Ipswich company made me feel like I would truly helping them for 6 months v's a maldon perm customer service with CEO "I've been on dragons den" - I felt the older woman at Ipswich may have been better for me in end but I was too scared.

I've regretted this before so if I were you, I'd drop them an email and see if it's possible to reconsider you.

You also need to ask yourself whether you do truly want this other job, or whether it's the "grass is greener" syndrome.
