So, I currently have a job that I really enjoy. I've been there 6 years and have no issues with any part of the job. Bar the money. It's not very well paid and there's no real way to progress unless I want to be available between 7am and 11pm 7 days a week (which I absolutely do not with young children!)
My shifts at the moment fit in with school hours and I'm perfectly happy bar the wages, which are set across the company and can't be changed.
I've been offered another job, which is mainly admin and mostly working from home. It's only £2000 more a year, so after tax/student loan etc I'd be maybe £140 a month better off.
I'm not sure I'd enjoy the job massively as I love to be around people, but there are progression opportunities as it's local government.
3rd option is that another business similar to the one I am in is opening. Basic wages are similar to what I'm on now, again maybe £2000 more a year. They're flexible on hours and no weekend work. However this job pays commission, so could end up on more money than I'm on now, but there are targets to hit. At the moment I have targets to hit, but don't get commission. I am pretty good at what I do, and hit my targets most months.
I just can't decide whether to stick with what I know, take a totally different job I might not enjoy, or to take a role with commission, but I could end up unhappy as I might prefer my job now!
What would other people do?
