Work problem

A colleague is leaving the company and I have been told I am expected to take on her role even though she worked 5 days and I work 3 which will cause problems for any urgent jobs that need doing on my days off as I know my other team members won't do the work.
I asked why another colleague who works 5 days could not take on the role and was told they didn't want to do it but neither do I.
I suffer with anxiety and I am already stressing about what work I will face after my days off 😟

Is it a larger company? If so I'd be really firm - in an email, ask how they'd like you to prioritise the two roles (what tasks are top priority, which can be shelved etc), I'd also ask what they're planning on compensating you for the additional roles / responsibilities and finish off with asking who you can hand the work over to on your non working days. Make it clear that you'll keep them updated on which tasks are slipping each week to the next because of your new priorities so they can organise the team workload to best support the work.

You need to speak to them

Ask who going to cover work on your day off
What happens to priority jobs that come in on your day off
Will your own workload lighten due to taking over someone else
Possible job share with someone else so all areas covered

Have a sit down with them and make it clear your workload already fills the 3 days you're contracted to work and you're not in a position to increase your hours so unfortunately you cannot accommodate these additional responsibilities.

It's not a case of telling them you don't want to do it. It's just not plausible.
