Finding your first copywriting clients, how?

I am a translator by trade and have been a freelance translator for years. I live in my source language country (Spain). A few years ago I did a copywriting course (College of Media and Publishing) and have been writing blogs on a colleague´s website, but only about translation since then, so about 5 years.

So, I have quite a lot of experience writing blogs (and doing the SEO for them) but only in this one very specific niche of translation.

The fields I translate in are really competitive for copywriting (fashion, travel, food, wine, jewellery, beauty). The only niche I can think of that works well with my experience and is maybe (I don´t know) less competitive is weddings maybe.
But I don´t know how to find people to write for? Is it just a case of cold pitching over and over?

I have a blog already published about wedding fashion, but it[s geared to the translation niche really. I[m going to write another and self publish on LI.
But I feel a bit lost. Should I try to find clients on LI? How?

I am planning to set up a simple website for copywriting but haven[t yet. Please excuse weird typos, the apostrophe on MN comes out as a square bracket for some bizarre reason.

I commission copywriters, and it’s generally from people who I’ve worked with before. Largely because it’s such a massive field it would be a mammoth task to sift through potential new people and see whether they were good.

Do your translation clients know you do copywriting? They’d be your natural first market.

I am telling them yes and beginning to put stuff on LI too.
