Working out what notice to give. How does it work?

Please can anybody work this out for me?
I’m on band 2 admin and clerical NHS, but I’m off sick at the moment so cannot access the leaving policy on the Trust intranet.

Its a long time since I’ve handed my notice (pre 2005) and can’t remember how to calculate when/how to do this.
I get paid every 26th of the month or nearabouts, either the Friday (mainly) or the Monday, and work Mon to Wed. Is that classed as a months notice or four weeks?

I need my last shift to be on the Wednesday, so what day do I hand my notice in?
Please help, I need to get out of there.
Thank you in advance.

You are likely to need to give 4 weeks notice as a band 2 but you may have annual leave owed to you if you have been sick for a while. Just message then with 4 weeks notice and tell them when you want your last day to be. They will not mind if it is longer than 4 weeks as will need to find a replacement and can advertise as soon as you resign.

Just tell them when you want to finish, ie I am giving you notice that my last day of employment will be X. As long as you are giving more notice (ie going with a month not four weeks) there is nothing wrong with more notice than required.
