Temping... recommendations/advice please!

Having been off for a year with DD I need to make some money! Dh is self employed and works away when there's work but has nothing at the mo' so I thought that while he's here to childmind I could be temping.. the idea being that if he had to go away I could stay home (have no family close enough to call on and no nursery place...).
Can anyone recommend any good temp agencies in London?
And any general advice ie: do I come clean about my situation and be honest about the fact that I only want a few weeks here and there and why? I don't want to lie but don't want to sound unreliable.
Never done it before...!

what kind of temp work would you be looking to do?

REC directory of members to search for recruitment agencies.

Really depends what you want to do though, and if it's for a particular sector, some specialise.

I don't really mind... I have good office skills but have only ever worked in theatres and the arts. I didn't realise they specialised but I'm not fussy, I'll go whereever pays best !

I would say register with a few and see what comes up. Not sure how it works in London but a lot of the contracts I dealt with were longer term therefore I would just say you are only looking for a temp job not permanent. That way you are not lying but by the same token, you need to be a bit selfish. If you were to say you were only looking for bits and pieces of work, then you may get overlooked for something. Thats just my opinion ( Worked as a recruitment consultant for 7 years for my sins).
