Legacy payment

So around a year ago a certain job group of employees started to receive a monthly ‘bonus payment’ which I also started to receive however I was never meant to get it… I didn’t say anything to my employer but arguably I also didn’t know I shouldn’t have been receiving it.

today I’ve been told that it’s being taken off me, however they won’t be asking for me to pay the money back as it was a company mistake. Do I have any claim to this money moving forward given I’ve been receiving it for a year already?

Be thankful they’re not pursuing you for this overpayment rather than being grabby, especially when you knew you should never have got it (I mean you say you didn’t know but are you within that group of employees…)

If you were overpaying your energy supplier every month would you not expect them to reduce your payments when it was identified?

You clearly say in your OP that you knew you shouldn't get it, work are (very unusually) saying you can keep a whole year of bonus payments you shouldn't have had and you're asking whether you've any comeback to be able to keep getting the money you're not entitled to....

It's a pain having to drop a bit of money each month, especially at the minute with costs rising bus you're not entitled to it so no you can't keep getting it.
