Work on Mat leave

I am currently on maternity leave from my main employer and am trained in a few beauty treatments, I usually do one client a month on average which a lot of the time is friends and family they pay cash in hand as it doesn’t take me over the threshold for having to register the business (think I’ve got that but right).
I am wanting to start doing nails as well and basically build up knowledge, skill and social media for the next 3 months so that by the time I return to work I can do that on the side. Two questions really..

  1. am I able to do this without registering as a business yet, if want to charge a fee for at least products and would I need to ask for cash in hand
  2. I have moved into a small village and wonder if anyone would report me for not being registered (don’t know if that’s just me overthinking) Is it a bit awkward asking for cash only?

Any advice, tips and words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Oh also my landlords daughter lives opposite us and they live two doors away, do I need to ask permission to do business from the address?
