I have an interval vacancy interview Friday, the questions are going to be competency questions requiring STAR responses.

The position is team leader, any suggestions on how I can prepare within 3 evenings!
Bareing in mind could be any questions!
I've been in my current role almost two years & previously was in a role for 16 years so interviews are few & far between!

I'd go through the jd/person spec and think of some examples to back up the skills & experience that are specified for the role eg showing leadership skills for a team project.
It's worth having a couple of questions prepared if you get the chance to ask the interviewers anything. My stand by is "I'm really interested in the vacancy, is there anything else i can tell you to convince you that I'd be the best person for the job".

Hope it goes well

As above, look at the job spec, person spec and also the core competencies/company values.

When I've recruited Team leader roles for contact centre/admin functions some of the questions have always linked to the core competencies. So for example:

  • Competency = Agile, description = flexible in approach, willing to take on board other views and rearrange priorities to meet the business needs. Question = Can you tell me about a time when you have had to respond quickly to an urgent requirement, how did you assess and address the need while ensuring that core activities still took place?
  • Competency = leading change , description = implementing change, creating a compelling visions, engaging others.
Question= Can you tell me about a time you instigated a change to process or system that required you to influence others. How did you achieve your goal and were there any challenges along the way?
