No trial period

My company had a reorganization. Offered another role and I asked if there was a trial period and I was told no.
Reluctantly took the role and it is totally unsuitable and I feel sick and anxious.
Any advice?

If you were being made redundant when this role was offered, you have the right to a 4-week trial period by law. During that trial period you can turn down the job and get the redundancy pay you would have received if you hadn't taken the job. To do this, you must turn down the job in writing and you must state a good reason for doing so. If your employer doesn't accept that you have a good reason, they can refuse to pay redundancy pay. In that situation you would need to take legal advice as to whether you had a claim against your employer.

If you would not have been made redundant, there is no right to a trial period.

Putting aside the legalities, your first step should be to talk to your employer informally and see if you can resolve the situation. They may agree to adjust the role or move you to a different, more suitable role. Failing that, I'm afraid you will need to look for another job.
