Office Loneliness

I have the best job in the world I really do, I have some fab colleagues but we are all based around the UK so rarely meet in person. We have two offices outside of London which I go to once or twice a month, I never know where to sit (no clear department signs) and it's really hard to force myself on people, I have one friend in one office because this person is very bubbly and my manager had me spend time with them wheb i first started. I do get to connect with people in other areas of the building too but the main office is daunting. I'm hoping over time my face will become known (I started the job this year).

Anyone else have the same thing?

I had this terrible when i worked in an open plan office. I was the only one working for my company and i sat right in the middle of two other big companies. It was awful, i've never felt so isolated. People would walk past my desk all day. They would have staff presentations right next to my desk with 30+ people, a few times it clashed with my Skype meetings so i had to move. someties they would have parties too. Awful.

Could you organise a lunch with a few people? It could be that everyone is feeling isolated too? sorry to her ths OP, it SUCKS

I think this must be more and more common as companies move more to hot desking, so you will be in the office with random people that might work for your company, but that you may never interact with from a work perspective.

I've found you just have to talk to people. The kitchen is the normal place in our office. I've not really progressed above small talk but at least I know people's names and I can just chat to them for a few minutes, which helps break up the day.
