I need to ask a really thick question about going back to work.....

We moved at the point where I went on maternity leave, so if I want a job I now have to start from scratch looking for one. I would like a part time job. I therefore also need to look for child care for my daughter. I rang the local nursery today - there is only one near by as we live in the sticks - and most of their places are already taken for September. So which do I do first? Book a nursery place in the hope I will find a job which miraculously starts in September, and which miraculously is on which ever days I've booked (I have to specify now). And if no job materialises then what? Send her any way and pay with, um... something... until a job turns up? Or look for the job first and hope upon hope that I can find some child care if and when I am offered a post.....

Feeling a bit dense asking a question like this, but would be interested to hear how other people have managed it. (Next time remind me not to move, so that I can work this out from the simpler position of maternity leave and a guaranteed part time post on return......)

ooh tough one. I think getting a part time job is the harder of the 2. You could probably find a place at another nursery it just might not be the best one. You can swap after?

But it depends what job you're after though. Otherwise pay a deposit and just be prepared to lose that if you don't find a job in time?
