Remote Interview - Suit wearing

Hi,

For many years I have held the belief you should ideally wear a suit to interview.

But I've got a bit bigger size wise and I was wondering with online interviews for a customer service role, if I could forgo wearing the jacket and just go with a smart blouse?

What are people's opinions.

So long as the part of you shown on screen looks smart it doesn't matter what's on the bottom half and no jacket needed. Good luck!

Absolutely fine.
I'd find it a bit strange of someone wore a suit jacket in their own home.

I have done a couple of remote interviews recently in a smart blouse and no jacket, particularly in the hot weather. I was pretty shocked that one interviewer was on the Zoom call in a vest top, which didn't seem very professional!!!

Thank you, this is brilliant 🙂 love mn

I remember my last online interview, where I'm sure someone came wearing a baseball cap! don't ask me what they were wearing though!!!

I always wear a bright top, red etc. it makes you a bit more memorable between a crowd of black and white.

It may depend a bit on what you're interviewing for? I have a zoom interview on monday (eek!) and will be wearing a suit jacket. (And probably shorts. Shhhh...)

Good luck for yours!

Thank you again. Good luck Motorina for Monday.

I was really hoping I would get away without a jacket with it being a courier company and from experience you normally get to wear their branded tops.

After a dash to the supermarket last night, I picked up a size 22 blouse in white, which came out a bit on the tent look size but I still think my jacket would have been a squeeze from the recent weight gain so in the end I absolutely braved it (I also didn't even get round to any make up for a first!!) I also noted my interviewer wore a similar colour - and it could not have gone better.

I got the job. 🙂good luck to others having interviews.

I’ve heard of situations where candidates have been asked to stand up and give a talk on a particular topic. It’s a tool used to see if candidates have put in an effort
for the interview and are not in their pj bottoms as well as seeing how they handle different situations
