Started a new job recently. A v unhappy dept which I have been trying my best to calm down as the second in command there. We are now off target for the departmental budget and looks like we’ll be short by year end. Our boss who is new is also getting it in the neck and we have merged with other departments so this is creating its own politics. I don’t regret moving but am thinking of applying for a new job as I’m concerned the writing is on the wall for my boss because the sales we have is barely covering overheads and I am on a reasonable wage but still on probation so would save the department further overheads. The department has also had dreadful attrition the past 18 months and i literally don’t know how it can be turned around. My only issue is I hope potential employers don’t think it’s because I didn’t pass probation which is not the case. Just think it’s a sinking ship of where our staff will be eventually moved to other groups that we have merged with. Last years I’ve spent 5-6 years in other companies- I have a non compete too which could cause issues with future employers.
