What sort of questions are asked at a return to work interview after sickness leave?
I have my first one tomorrow and just worried about how personal the questions are.

I would ask my employee .. are you ok? Are you fit enough to return ? Can we do anything to help ? Is there anything I should know ?

Then reasonable adjustments can be made , I may arrange a phased return , I might ask you if you would like a regular catch up , you may ask me to just let you be and carry on as before ?

Some will depend on the length of time you've been off - I'd need to make sure you are aware of any changes , updates , new colleagues

I am sure you will be fine 💐

My work has a set format.
First is to ask if you want anyone in with you for the meeting
Basically confirmed how long the absence was and dates.
Then how absence was informed, call to line manager at 0630 on X.
Reason for absence and if work related.
If you are fit to return and if any adjustments need to be made.
Then fill out some other info about absence history.
You then sign the form to confirm it is correct.

Longterm sick is slightly different and may involve phased return depending on what fit note from Dr says

How are you? It’s good to have you back!

Are you completely recovered? Is this an ongoing condition that could recur? (Asked more sensitively than that)

How can we help ease you back in, and are there any ‘reasonable adjustments’ we can make (e.g. differently spaced out breaks, part-time increasing to full-time after a week or 2 depending on circumstances obs)

These are the main things that have changed while you were absent …
