Just that really.

Also, I’ve applied for an SEO role. Any tips?

Anything from a few days to a few months, and often very slow - sorry!

Completely depends on the role and team as PP said - hiring manager will have a bunch of paperwork to do and will depend how quickly they do it! Might be a bit slower over August with annual leave etc. If it's been a couple of weeks I think it would be reasonable to follow up and ask when you might expect to hear back. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies ☺️

Sounds like I’ll have to be patient and I’ll do so! Placing a lot of hopes in this job - but let’s see!

Days to months - too many factors to state.

I did an interview and assessment centre with the HSE and waited 6wks for confoId passed then another 6wks for the formal contract. That was pretty quick, but it was almost 6mths from application to starting the job.

With my current role in a MOJ agency, it was about 4 days to receive a call offering the job but 4mths for security clearance and despite being an internal candidate this time it was still 6mths from application to starting the job, but that was in the middle of Lockdown 1.

Just to add: I’m an SEO. Time from application to interview invite: four days as they were sifting as they went. Time to hear back after interview: six weeks!

Slow sadly

@anotherpotoftea So I’ve never worked for the civil service before, it it possible to break into a SEO role without climbing the ladder progressively?

i feel like I really am a good candidate for this role, but am I getting my hopes up unnecessarily?

I joined at SEO level a year ago so I’d say yes!

anotherpotoftea · 26/08/2022 20:03

Yes it’s possible, I mean.

It can sometimes take a few tries to get in but it absolutely is possible.

Yfzm2022 · 27/08/2022 10:24

@anotherpotoftea Oh wow that gives me hope! Do you mind us swapping WhatsApp numbers so I can get some tips etc?

Trying to work out how to say this kindly - that’s not appropriate to ask. I’m not going to give out my personal contact info and you shouldn’t really be asking for it.

I know it’s hard waiting to hear back about a job, my advice is to keep applying for more roles.

DH had just started. Had his interview and it was weeks before he got offered the job.
