Nhs interview fail

Hello!
im looking to get back into work after an extended maternity and I was made redundant before it ended.
i applied for a job in the nhs, and had the interview.

they’ve emailed saying I was unsuccessful for the job, they said they were really impressed by me, had a lot to contribute ect so have been added to the talent pool and a reserve group. What does this mean?

im gutted as this job and hours would’ve been perfect 😩

Don’t give up - this was just one position in workforce of millions

It means that they thought you were really good, but that someone else was successful this time. They've added your details so you're considered for other posts that come up. That suggests they also felt the interview went well and they'd like to employ you.
