Do I go to this interview?

I have worked in my current role for a good few years. I am happy on the most part and have a mix of WFH and office. The other staff have changed a lot recently and a lot is put on me in terms of training etc. I was fed up and applied for a job in another department, same company. I don't know much about this department but I don't think WFH is an option. It would be a side step so no extra money. Interview looming and I'm not sure what to do! I don't HATE my current role, just bits of it are annoying and I fancied a change.....but what if I regret it? I need to decide whether to attend as there is a good chance I would be offered it if I interview..

I’d go and meet your potential new boss to chat about the role before your interview

Interviews are 2 ways. Go, answer their questions and ask them questions to see if the role appeals enough. Or if you can then ask the hiring manager or another in the team in advance to take you through more details of the role.

Go! You don’t have to take the job and you can at least find out more about it.

Thank you! That seems to be unanimous. I think I'll go and just see what happens. I think I'm just scared to make a bad move

I'd speak to someone else who does the role and see how they feel about it.

That's what I did. Two of them were very encouraging - but almost too much to the point that it felt like they just needed someone because of workload. I went to the interview and pretty much had my feelings confirmed. I declined the job.

Get all the info you can before making a decision. I felt meh about a job interview, but went ahead with it and am now in the role and loving it! Be open to potentials and opportunities.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll do as advised and try to speak to someone in that department today. Interview tomorrow afternoon! No one has said don't go so you have definitely helped me to make the decision to attend. Need to do some prep today now!
