Local private prmiary is looking for dinner ladies, 7.5 hours a week in total.

It states that it is term time only, but doesn't state wether a retainer is paid during school hols.

My mil was a dinner lady in a private school until recently, she was paid 52 weeks of the year and got the school holidays off. I imagine her wages were for the weeks she worked in the term but paid over 52 weeks though.

Ah right I see.

They won't think I am being rude if I ring and ask what the deal is regarding the wages will they ??

I tried looking on their website to see if there was an ad on there which gave more detail, but the site is under reconstruction.

Likely to be 35 ish weeks paid over 52. Is it just serving as hours so short ?

nutcracker · 19/01/2008 18:18

Not sure LIZ, it just says, week days, 12:15-1:45, term time only.

At ours that would be serving and clearing , no food preparation etc. Might be a good stopgap.

Yeah, I will ring on Monday. Really need to know the deal wrt wages, because it might not be worth it as I will have to pay bus fare too.

That's what I was quietly wondering tbh. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you calling anyway. A bit of a tie for you if every day too as regards any courses and other potential opportunities. Might be better than nowt short term though and could even lead onto working there in another capacity such as if they need a fill-in TA or someone to accompany younger kids swimming.

did you ring ? Any good ?
