Indeed - what do employers see?

so I’ve just had an email from someone randomly saying that I have viewed their job advert on Indeed and “loved” it. Asking if I’d like to chat about the role in 15 mins.

They’re right, I did view the job and “love” it to remind myself to apply later.

I didn’t know that employers could view this information - so I’m wondering what else can employers view?

My CV is set to private.

thanks :)

I don't have an answer to this but I use Indeed as well and I can't believe this! Did they use your name in the message? Sometimes employers might be able to contact you but not actually see any details about you unless you apply.

I'm not a fan of Indeed in regards to their privacy. I didn't realise that my Indeed resume was public by default. It must have been like that for months and months. It wasn't until I updated by CV that I realised it was all public. I was horrified, especially as there was a point in time when anyone could view full CVs on there. Whereas now you can only see a full CV with names if you're registered as an employer.

I'm private on Indeed but does make you wonder - I wouldn't disbelieve this at all.

I think you have a point OP.

I looked at jobs in my sector yesterday saving one job a day old but thinking no one wants me as I work for a company dubbed as one of worst in Britain.

By end of day today I'd coincidently heard from that company of the job I'd saved yesterday, we're just going through old applications, we've an opening again and wonder if you want an interview next week.

I'm private on Indeed but it spooks me how an employer in the same industry sends message. Does Indeed tell them people who are in competition that they have saved jobs.

It sounds like an automatic workflow. You click like and an auto message is set to the employer with your contact details. It doesn’t mean they see everything. It should be set out in the Privacy Policy as it’s processing personal data under GDPR.
