Just looking for advice/experience/someone to talk some sense into me! Seen loads of threads when people query giving up perm to give fixed term but this is opposite.
I have a job which is fixed term for 12 months, there is an expiry date on my contract.
My notice period is one month (which may be a save)
My choice hybrid working
Shift work and weekend working will eventually kick in which I really don't mind.
I actually like job hunting equally I admit I don't have a great track record in holding down employment long term but it is something I would like to change.
My salary danger money is in excess of £21,000 and some of the benefits are another world (eeek my highest salary to date)
Loads of 'other fixed termers' and don't know about the perm prospect
I'd like to get to 12 months in the role (personal goal) I might not be the poster girl for the company but like to think I can make it
I was unsure of this job until end of last week when I started picking up the system so really pleased to turn a corner for once and have a moment when I've stuck something out.
Just because of the times we're in, I'm doubting if I should give a permanent job offer any thinking room?
Only thing is the role is less well paid at £19,760 with 5 hours less per week so the overall hourly rate of £9.90 which still just a bit above minimum wage and considered living wage I think.
Office hours and no weekends
Non-remote = less home energy spend
More the soft fm (sector term) I am use to
Small company where it is evident people can move on internally
Company more local to me and older in age than the company where I am fixed term.
They could get past the covenant restrictions
I know I can be a job hopper (downside) thinking of turning down from this prospective but inserted that I'd hope to prove myself in the fixed term opportunity.
I'm thinking I need to stay where I am? I'd like to remain on good terms with the perm job as I'm thinking we may meet again in the future, I really want to write a nice letter, hell any idea on what angle I should turn the job down from or should I hope one month notice may just be enough to put them off.
