hi,
I really really need some help, I am applying to do a pgce in R.E at the moment, but i am really struggling with what to write in my personal statement - I find it really hard to talk about why i want to be a teacher without it sounding rediculous and i am stuck as for what else to write.
I have 4 children and haven't worked for ages, all though i have just completed a degree (whilst giving birth to dc3 and being pg with dc4!). dh says if i dont get on i have to get an office job or something else as we are a bit tight at the moment - amd i really dont want to leave the kids for something my heart isn't in (youngest is currently 5 months old so they are still small).
So it is crucial i get in. PLEASE help, i need ideas fast.
Has anyone else applied for pgce, if so what sort of thing did you write - i just di=ont think i can tell a successful app from a cheesy run of the mill one. Brain is still a little foggy from lo's.

thanks
Clara x

I agree that it's really hard. The best thing is to be honest. They will want to see that you have a genuine passion and commitment to teach. I am jiggling DS2 at the moment but I will try to think of more soon.

I did an RE PGCE.

It would be good to talk about your experience of spending some time in a school and identifying examples which confirmed your wish to teach. You could talk about your enthusiasm for your subject and wanting to impart that to others. How much you feel children gain from being taught re ie to consider their own beliefs as well as learning about other - tolerance etc especially in todays society.
