Arranging return to work

Due to return to work in a couple of months after mat leave so need to let my work know the date im planning on coming back. Would you inform work via phone call or email?

Also forgot to add i will be asking for slightly reduced hours upon return

They need it in writing. I imagine an email would be fine.

Normally you set your planned return to work date before you go on mat leave, then you just have to tell them with 8 weeks notice of you are changing that date.

Flexible working request needs to be done in writing following whatever the company process is probably, i would get that started ASAP so its hopefully agreed and sorted before you start back

I did mine last week via email. However, when I wanted to reduce my hours after my first maternity leave I did it in person, but it was because my boss asked for a return to work meeting, rather than me requesting it
