Environment Agency Jobs

I’ve recently applied for a role at the environment agency, the closing date was 22nd July. The status of my application says it has been screened and they will be in touch shortly.

Has anyone ever applied for a position there / works there? How long does it take to hear back? I’m really excited about the role so now I’m on the edge of my seat every time my phone beeps or rings Confused

I worked there for a long time, and know lots of people that still do.

Like everything the EA do, recruitment can take an age. Recruitment is generally done by local managers supported by HR so there is no official timeframe for hearing back.

When I joined 17 years ago I assumed I had been unsuccessful as they took so long to come back to me, then they offered me a job 100 miles away. They did sort things out, but then they lost my birth certificate during pre-employment checks.

It’s a good place to work, flexi time is great, good holidays and the pension is amazing. Things do move slowly though, frustratingly so at times, but I enjoyed my time there.

Good luck.
