Any HR professionals?

Hi - I've just started a role where I need to keep up to date with the latest in HR in the UK. Recruitment, legal stuff and generally how to keep ahead of the curve in terms of employee experience/benefits etc.

Do you have any tips of how to keep up to date? Any memberships, groups, newsletters etc that might help?

Thanks in advance!

Second CIPD, they are the professional body. They do courses and qualifications for U.K. HR professionals.

CIPD definitely, also Acas is my go to for HR advice

I find the HR Ninjas Facebook page really helpful for the day to day stuff.

Fab. I've suggested CIPD and look eligible for the assessed route to membership. Has anyone done that?

I've used ACAS before and found them brilliant. And I've signed up to the ninjas FB group too, thank you!

NotEnoughMud · 29/07/2022 09:26

That's interesting, how did you find going through qualification?

Bloody hard work haha very time consuming

but I’m glad I have it as it set me aside from my peers when discussing people management challenges/ employee engagement/ resource management and as managers are the front line of leadership helps me to guide my team (I manage a group of managers) to avoid HR mistakes when dealing with tricky issues

NotEnoughMud · 29/07/2022 09:31

The time consuming bit does scare me! But interesting that you found the content worthwhile. Thank you!

You can join as an affiliate www.cipd.co.uk/membership/grades/affiliate
to get access to the resources. No studying required 😉

Fab tip, thank you!

CIPD is a worthless qualification, don’t bother. You can sign up to alerts from news services such as HR grapevine, personnel today etc. they all also have Twitter accounts, and there will be others specific to recruitment/resourcing/talent/workforce planning
