Maternity discrimination?

Hi need some advice really.
I am currently on maternity leave.
My manager sent an email around a few months ago about a new training opportunity. I expressed interest (wasn’t sure I would be eligible as on may leave and asked this) went back and forth discussing levels past qualifications ect. Was told information would be passed on to someone else who is organising the training. Then hear nothing I asked a few times but get responses like going through selection process, even though I hadn’t selected a course and had no correspondence with the man organising the courses. The last I hear is oh if you haven’t heard anything maybe you haven’t been selected but I can try next time. I don’t understand how I can not be selected when I haven’t even been given the opportunity to apply and pick a course? I feel discriminated against as I’m on mat leave, or am I just being sensitive?

There's not enough information here. Have you actually asked the employer this question? Feeling and being are not the same thing, and without any information about why you weren't selected then it's just a nebulous guess. Perhaps there are selection criteria that you don't meet? Perhaps you have to have certain approvals you don't have? Could the courses be on when you are still on maternity leave? There are a thousand possible non-discriminatory reasons you didn't get the opportunity. Only one set of people know that answer - the employers.

No I haven’t asked why I wasn’t selected and that is a good question to ask. Silly baby brain! I will ask and see the response. My feeling is I wasn’t actually put forward for the training that I had expressed interest in. Thank you for your response.
