Redundancy pool

Hi,
Would love some advice on anyone in the know on redundancy pool rules.
I was put at risk of redundancy today and have been put into a pool (A) with 1 other person - 1 role available.
The other person in pool A has the same job title in the back end system but I was unofficially promoted to another role a few months ago. The people I work alongside in the promoted role are in another pool (B) which it feels more logical and fair for me to be part of.
The back story is I was offered a new job a few months ago and accepted a counter offer to stay. The counter offer was a payrise and promotion to the role in pool B but due to process/governance the change was not made in the back end so I'm in pool A with someone doing a more junior role and if I'm successful I'll be being overpaid for a more junior role.
Aware this is a good example of why you shouldn't bypass process but we are where we are!
Should I be in pool A because that's my official job title although it feels unfair on the other person and the role is not what I do in reality?
Or should I be in pool B with people doing my role but with a different job title in the system?
There's obviously a consultation period where I will raise these questions but I would appreciate different perspectives. Also worth mentioning they are similar roles, it's just pool B is the senior version eg Project Assistant and Project Manager.
Thank you!

It is probably what is documented that is most important here. Is there any documentary evidence of your promotion (emails, contract, pay rise etc)

Hi, yes I have an email from my director outlining the new salary, job title and people my role would be aligned to. It's very much acknowledged that I do that role but the pool has been done on job title in the system.

Missed the point about contract but no new contract - the email states that the change will be done through official channels at the appropriate time. Thanks

I don’t know much, but units were useful in explaining what things to challenge in the pooling system (I became a member but was not before)

I was in a similar position a decade or so ago - my job title said analyst but my day to day activities were that of a PM.
During a restructure I was placed in the analyst pool.
I provided supporting evidence to HR and my line manager of why substantively I was a PM and not an analyst. Showing that i had been acting as a PM for 9 months (with great feedback and deliverables)
I was removed from the analyst pool and placed in the PM pool. I was successful at obtaining a role in the new structure.

Hopefully this helps

Not a problem. Good luck OP

It doesn’t sound very clear whether you have been promoted. What was the starting date of the new role and was an announcement made etc.?

If you move into pool B, then the person remaining in pool A with be the only candidate and will automatically get the position. Whereas you will increase the number of people competing for roles in pool B.

If you're keen to stay, surely a 1 in 2 chance is good????
