Should I quit now?

I took on a managers job 3 months ago and the job is a lot tougher than I thought it would be, there is very little support from senior management. I have been really struggling with sleep and crying because I don't think I can do the job as I feel so overwhelmed.
I applied for another managers role with another company and they have offered me the job. I handed in my notice but my manager has been trying to convince me to stay. I don't know what to do, I can't help but think all the help she is offering now will be broken promises in a few weeks time.
I love the team I work with, and part of me keeps thinking the other company might not be any better.
Should I stick it out for a bit longer? I know that most jobs take at least 6 months to settle into.

God, no, leave.

I dont think you should necessarily stay but what is it about the role thats keeping you awake at night, is there a chance that it could be replicated in your new job?

Managing people is tough, you say you love your team so could things improve?

@Ilikewinter

The place was in a bad state before I took over and I feel as if I have been set up to fail. no support from senior manage meant and made to feel like it is my fault the way things are.

In that case then definately leave ..... and dont let them talk you into staying!

Leave op

User23072 · 23/07/2022 22:03

Leave. My friend was in a similar situation not long ago and she left. She felt the same as you about being set up to fail. She was basically brought in to rescue a struggling department and shoulder a lot of blame for things. She's much happier now that she's moved on.

Just bear in mind that there is no guarantee that the next place will be any better.
