Anyone here that knows about span of control?
I’ve recently returned to work after a few weeks off for work related stress. I’m a Senior leader in the voluntary sector and had burnt out after one of my managers left last year and we haven’t replaced.
Have been managing 8 people - 3 managers (one for cenral organisational function)and 5 new project workers on new and different projects.
I have a new manager who says average span of control is actually 9 (in general not in our org) so I should be able to manage my workload.
it might be manageable if most reportees were experienced and they were doing the same work but that isn’t the case.
If anyone could link me to a U.K. based article to back me up I’d be very grateful.
