Should I apply for this role?

I've seen a role that I love the look of, the company ethos speaks to me, I'm more than qualified and have very relevant experience.

The thing is, it's paying 20k below what I need to earn - it's a sales management role, so they're advertising a "potential package" of up to my target salary (eg if I'm on and need 50k total now, they're offering basic of 30k plus bonus potential which could bring the package up to 55k) I have to have certainty on how much I'm taking home due to my current financial commitments.

They're a start up so I'm not sure what wiggle room they have, and I'm on 3 months notice.

Is it worth getting in touch to ask if they'd consider a higher salary basic with lower bonus? Or should I keep looking?

It’s worth applying for the position and asking if they would consider paying more.

Ask. I have managed to get two full time positions but negotiated part time hours at the initial stages. If you don’t ask…

You could apply and have that conversation in the interview. Personally I wouldnt bother ask the question before getting to interview stage because they'll probs just say a simple no. If they are interested in you then you can negotiate.

I’d definitely have an open conversation about it. If they are a start-up and can’t raise the base salary they may be able to offer you equity in the company, particularly if you have lots of experience and can help them grow faster.
