Training on sick leave

Does anyone know the rules around training while on sick leave?
I am due to have an operation and will be off 2 months. I have an active job so cannot work during recovery. I have been asked about attending some training which is theory based and therefore I could do. Anyone know if it allowed? I have contacted the training organiser for our company but no response yet and tbh is pretty useless at getting back to people.

Well you wouldn’t be on sick leave, if you are fit enough to do what they ask you then you need to go in and do it.

I think it's reasonable if you are fit to do the training... if you are not fit enough then don't do it..
Ive attended training when off before (virtual when had covid but felt well).

Technically no, unless your sick / fit note specifically says that you can undertake remote training.

As your employer I'd ask OH for advice and dona risk assessment, but there's nothing to prevent you working whilst signed off sick, if you and employer are in agreement

I've worked whilst off sick recovering from surgery. Provided it is all above board, no pressure and safe, there is no reason why not. Desk based work can be done from home. Don't be pressured to do something you can't. But you also don't have to be precious, provided you are calling the shots.
