I have resigned from my job and currently on Universal Credit. My employer has paid me my yearly entitlement of holiday pay. Will this effect my next UC payment?

I recently resigned from my job and I’m on UC. They have advised me that I’ll receive my yearly entitlement of holiday pay.

Will this affect my next UC payment??

Yes

I'm surprised you are getting universal credit at all. They usually frown on people walking out of their jobs - you run the risk of being sanctioned OP. I hope it won't happen though they can be merciful sometimes.

Yes. I dont really understand Universal Credit but are you receiving whatbusednto bencallwd Jobseekers Allowance? If so I would be careful you dont get investigated, they dont usually pay it if you just resign from a job.

That's supposed to say 'what used to be called' I have fat fingers!

WeeHaggisFace · 06/07/2022 20:42

Well yes but you should surely just call them and ask them to adjust?

DoubleGauze · 06/07/2022 20:44

Yes. They will use it for the calculation of that assessment period. Save what you need for next month.

They'll deduct 63p for every £1 like they would normally wages

Holiday pay would be treated exactly the same as wages. So if you have kids and get a work allowance, that would be disregarded from the earnings and then after that they deduct 55p for each pound earned.
